Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about how XplainrHub works, how we handle your information, and where to get help. Tap a question to see the answer.

Why is this more accurate than just using an AI?

XplainrHub uses Claude, a leading AI made by Anthropic. The difference is in how each app puts it to work. Every Xplainr app gives the AI detailed instructions written for one subject. For example, it's told to:

  • explain every term at the level you choose, from beginner to professional;
  • say plainly when the evidence is strong, mixed, or still debated;
  • never make up studies, statistics, or sources;
  • stay on its subject, and point you to a better app or a professional when a question is outside it.

Some apps go further. SEOXplainr and DietXplainr can check current information on the web and list their sources at the end of the answer, and StudyXplainr double-checks math answers with a calculator.

This makes answers more careful and consistent, but AI can still make mistakes. Answers are for understanding, not professional advice, so check anything important with your doctor, lawyer, financial advisor, or teacher.

How is this different from asking my questions in an AI like ChatGPT?
  • Built for one job. Each app already knows its subject and how to explain it. You don't need to know how to word a request for an AI. Just paste your document or type your question and pick your level.
  • Plain English at your level. Every app has levels, so a beginner and a professional each get an answer that fits them.
  • Pay only for what you use. No monthly subscription. Each question uses 1 credit, samples are free, and your first follow-up after an answer is free. Credits never expire and work in every app.
  • Private by design. Most apps don't save your questions at all, and nothing you send is used to train AI.
  • Extras that work together. Translate a document in LanguageXplainr, then have MedeXplainr or LegaleXplainr explain it. Turn an answer into a step-by-step checklist with PlanListGo. Parents can link to a student's StudyXplainr account.
Is my information always secure?

We take security seriously and keep as little information as possible:

  • Connections to XplainrHub are encrypted.
  • Passwords are handled by our login provider (Supabase), and we never see them.
  • Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card number.
  • Most apps don't save your questions or answers after you get your answer. PlanListGo checklists and StudyXplainr history are saved, and only your account (and, for StudyXplainr, a linked parent) can see them.

No online service can promise perfect security, so please don't include passwords, bank or card numbers, or Social Security numbers in what you send. When you paste a medical or legal document, you can leave out your name, address, and ID numbers. The explanation will be just as good.

Is the AI trained on my questions?

No. To create your answer, we send your question to Anthropic's Claude service. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, content sent this way is not used to train their AI. XplainrHub doesn't train any AI on your questions either, and we never sell your information or use it for advertising.

What do I do if the app freezes?
  1. Give it a minute. Long documents, and answers that check the web, can take up to a minute. While the dots are moving, it's still working.
  2. Refresh the page. Use your browser's reload button, or pull down on a phone. You'll stay signed in. Copy any long text you pasted first, so you don't have to find it again.
  3. Check your credits. If something goes wrong and you don't get an answer, the credit is returned automatically. Your balance is on your dashboard.
  4. Still stuck? Check your internet connection, or try a different browser. If the problem keeps happening, let us know.
How do I report problems?

Email us at xplainrhub@pm.me. It helps to include:

  • which app you were using;
  • what you were doing, and what happened (an error message, a wrong answer, a frozen screen);
  • your device and browser, for example "iPhone, Safari" or "Windows laptop, Chrome";
  • a screenshot, if you can.

Please don't include passwords or other sensitive personal information in your email. We read every message.

Do you have a privacy statement?

Yes. Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect, what each app saves, and how to delete your information. In short: we keep only what we need to run your account, most apps don't save your questions, nothing you send is used to train AI, and we never sell your information.

Our Terms of Use cover how XplainrHub may be used.

Is this app for adults only?

Mostly, but not entirely:

  • You must be at least 14 to create an account. Users under 18 need a parent's or guardian's permission.
  • StudyXplainr is made for high school students ages 14 to 18, and the parents who support them.
  • LifeXplainr is for adults 18 and older.
  • The other apps are written for adults, but teens 14 and older can use them with a parent's permission.
Is this app safe for children?

XplainrHub is not for children under 14, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child under 14 has an account, contact us and we'll delete it.

For teens, StudyXplainr was built with safety in mind:

  • It stays on schoolwork. It explains and helps, but it doesn't do homework.
  • A parent can link to their student's account to see every question and answer.
  • If a student mentions a crisis, it responds with care and shares the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.

Apps that touch sensitive topics, such as DietXplainr, NutritionXplainr, YourMoneyXplainr and LifeXplainr, also have safety rules that point people to crisis help when needed. Still, no AI is perfect, so we encourage parents to stay involved in how their teens use any AI tool.
